Christmas Week in La Paz

12-22-16

My favorite place to have coffee in La Paz in Doce Quarenta. Mike and I walked here this morning and this is how my latte arrived.  Fantastico!  What a beautiful way to start the day!

Our morning walk was rich with seabird sightings

Mike's cousin Dana and her boyfriend John arrived today.  We took them to Mesquite Grill for dinner.  YUM!

12-23-16

Tonight was our dock 3 and marina Christmas party.  I sang 16 Christmas Carols and we had a white elephant gift exchange.  It was really fun!

All was calm, all was bright

And then the Dock 3 Christmas morning brunch began!

The tradition continues with Bloody Marys and Ceasars with all the fixings.  Yes, bacon.

And a great spread of food

Merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday, Peter Max!

We enjoyed seafood at Los Mariscos down the street from the marina after swimming with whale sharks.  (Separate post)
Los Tres Virgines for dinner with soft-shell crab and octopus appetizers.  Our fish of the day dinners were spectacular, as was the lamb shank.

The time went so fast and we were really sad to see Dana and John go today.  We took them to one of our favorite spots, Mc Fisher.

We are grateful to have had such a great week!

Swimming with Whale Sharks

This post deserves its own feature, even though it took place during Christmas Week.

We (Mike and I and his cousin Dana and boyfriend John) went swimming with the whale sharks in the Bahia de La Paz.  It was awesome.

Here's a video sneak peek:

If you have the chance to go to La Paz, go!  Below is a link to a fantastic article on whale sharks with great photos and a video clip:

Enjoy!

La Ventana Kiteboarding with Vicki and Joe

The gang was all back together in La Ventana for a day.  Nancy and Rob on Shindig came down for the night and Joe and Vicki booked a place for a week.  We stayed at Palapas Ventanas for 5 nights.  This was taken at Baja Joe's.

Mike enjoyed playing a little guitar while waiting for the wind to come up.

I took turns playing ukulele, guitar and keyboard.

Big Rock Radio in Denver

I am having a blast working with Big Rock Radio when I am back in Denver.  They are an emerging 80's glam band performing all original songs.  Every member is über talented and I really love their music. Check them out!

Thanksgiving

11-22-16

Eric flew down from Minneapolis to spend the week around Thanksgiving with us on Pangaea.  He hadn't ever been to this part of Mexico or on our boat, so it was a new adventure!

Eric and Mike on our sail to Caleta Partida

The sunset was a crazy pink/purple that night.  This is an untouched photo.

Eric and I tag-teamed to cook Thanksgiving

The 7 k (14.4 lb) turkey does fit in the Force 10 oven!

Jalapeño Cranberry Sauce

Sweet potatoes and apples with bourbon pecans

After the food was prepped and the turkey was in the oven, we went for a paddle and swim.  While we were out, we met our neighbors on Dad's Dream, Rick and Daniel.  They were having a father-son week out sailing.  We invited them over to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner.

Dinner commenced with a beautiful sunset

Rick and Daniel came over and brought an appetizer of baked clams they caught the day before.  They were amazing.  We had Kir Royals and wine with dinner, and we had so much fun we forgot to take any photos of the guests or the cooked food.  Oh well.  It was a fun night and we now have new friends!

Looking forward at Los Isolates, a sea lion rookery
We sailed down to Los Isolates to swim (snorkel) with the sea lions.  Eric and I went first and then I swam back to the boat and Mike joined Eric.  There were baby sea lions and quite a bit of activity.  It was really an adventure.  Eric loved it!  We made our way to Isla SanFrancisco for the night and arrived just in time for a hike and a sundowner.

We sailed back to La Paz the next day and went out to eat at Sorstis.  It was a beautiful meal. We decided to take Eric to Todos Santos the next day for a little shopping and lunch.

Love you, Eric!  Thanks for visiting us!
