Camp Makemo

Four boats left the main pass at Makemo for the southeast anchorage:

s/v Pangaea, s/v Shindig, s/v Alcyone and s/v Magic

The girls did a morning hike around the island

Nancy, Rob, Brian, Mike and I all did some kiting

We met David and his friends since childhood Gabriel, Napoleon, and Nolan. They were harvesting copra and were at this anchorage for 2-3 week stretches. They were wonderful to us, came to our boats and serenaded us, guided us on a hike and showed us their copra operation, shared coconut water and meat with us and even planted a tree for each of us.

We had so much fun together with hikes, snorkeling, kiteboarding and socializing that we started referring to it as "Camp Makemo".  And, as most camp experiences go, no one really wanted to leave.
