Carnival

Mike and I on our way down to the Carnival festival

Back in La Paz!

Mike and I arrived in La Paz on Monday night.  Wendy (Willow) picked us up from the airport, took us to Costco to provision and drove us back to the marina via Todos Santos, where we stopped for dinner and tequila tasting. :-)

Pangaea looked better than ever, thanks to the beautiful cleaning courtesy of Lupita.  There isn't more one can ask for after a long travel day than coming home to a pristine boat.  SO grateful!

We spent Tuesday unpacking and organizing and at dusk made our way to the last night of Carnival on the Malecon in La Paz.  Since my last trip to Carnival included dancing in a samba school (Caprichosos de Pillares) in Rio, I had to have some fun with it.

The evening was a family event, for sure, and there were so many fun floats and other carnival highlights that are best told in a photo journal.

Carnival flags

We walked down the Malecon from the Marina and this was our view:

The whole street was lined with families awaiting floats and vendors of all kinds!

And the floats begin!

Bought me a wig!

Bought Mike a mask he won't wear :-(

Avatar!

Carnival is not the same without influence from Brasil!

Or E.T.

Or a cat-eyed moon behind a palm tree

Or Star Wars!

Complete with light-saber street fighting...

Or...

Transvestites
Or masks

Candied nuts

A fully stocked street bar
